I've learnt never to rely on technology. Every time I need to do something pretty sharpish - which is a lot of the time actually as I have a knack of leaving things not quite to last minute but the penultimate one - and I need to use technolgy e.g. computer it always let's me down. Example below:
Myself: Argh, coursework due in next week. Time to write it up (clicks Word)
Word: I'm afraid your document has been deleted. A substitute file has been created for your benifit.
Myself; OK, wel that maybe useful.
Word: (substitute file opens and appears to be an animation of a monkey wearing a fez riding a unicycle)
Myself: Or not.
Warning, above events may be entirely fictitious.
The mechanical mishap that has brought on this rant is that my laptop has decided to prevent me from completing a form which is extremely significant in my ascent to university - which is only a few months away and so needs to be done. I try to load the page and it simply won't budge. Like the page hasn't moved for so long it's got overweight and can't find the energy to shift itself.
Ah well, let's calm myself down by watching Matt Smith and Charlie the Badger pester Karen Gillan.
Although the technology wil probably fail me.
I've learnt not to rely on it.

Several days after I posted this technology got its revenge.
First, my laptop gets infected with a horde of horrendous viruses (is that the correct plural for virus? viri?) then when they're removed it deletes my internet history, favourites etcetera, stops me from having a desktop background AND has deleted my word documents!
I'm not sure even Matt, Karen and Charlie will be able to cheer me up this time.

His Darkest Hour
Argh! It's here! Doctor Who's mid-series finale, A Good Man Goes To War, is only one more sleep away. As my bow tie is positively buzzing with excitement I thought I'd compile a list of things we know about Doctor Who's 777th episode ever so far - not sure this will calm me down though, in fact it will most likely have the opposite effect, but I'll still carry on with it.
1. A revelatory rhyme
The Doctor Who homepage reveals a chilling nursery rhyme-esque poem read by River Song - presumably to feature in the episode tomorrow - read at your peril.
Ah, that enigmatic Eye Patch Lady who has been plaguing Amy over the past few weeks with her whispered words of "Push" and "Breathe". At last, we find out who she really is and what the heck she wants with Amy and her child - is she in league with the Silence who also seemed to have an unhealthly interest in the young Pond. For now, all we know is her name: Madame Kovarian.
This one's really got me. We don't know much about this eccentricly-dressed young woman, apart from a few short glimpses in the trailer. However, her name is what's really grabbing my attention: Jenny. If the Doctor's going into war, at the Battle of Demons Run, would he reconnect with his estranged daughter - in her second incarnation - first? We'll find out tomorrow. Hopefully.
He's back! Dorium Maldovar, proprioter of the space bar, the Maldovarium, where we saw Doctor Ten say goodbye to Jack in 2010s The End of Time, was previously in the series when River came to him to buy a Vortex Manipulator ("fresh off the hand of a handsome Time Agent") in last year's penultimate episode The Pandorica Opens. Looks like ol' Dorium always shows up when things get tough.
Weee! Those lovable potato - heads, the Sontarans, have returned! Well, at least one has in the - very minute - form of Commander Strax.
Aaand finally, to round up the Doctor's motley crew, helping him to save Amy and her child are...the Cybermen! I know, not the first species you'd expect to come to the rescue. Apparently, they're the 12th Cyber Legion. Maybe that's a rogue group of nice Cybermen?
3. Precious Prequel
The BBC have released a prequel to Good Man which shows Dorium visited by those mysterious Headless Monks. He gives them a warning not to get the Doctor angry. One I'm sure they'll not heed to. On the same link you can also find two one miute clips taken from the episode one of Dorium (again) being arrested by Kovarian and her men and the second is perhaps more intriguing as it shows a desperate Rory trying to plead a reluctant River Song to join the Doctor and he on their quest to find Amy. But that's all we're getting till tomorrow. Spoilers!

'Hanging among the stars in the far distant future, an asteroid - and a bleak grey fortress built into the misshapen rock. This is Demons Run. In a prison hospital, Amy Pond kisses her one-month-old daughter goodbye. "Wherever they take you, however scared you are" she tells her, "I promise you, you will never be alone."
Twenty thousand light years away, the Doctor has a message for the Twelfth Cyber Legion. The Last Centurion has a question that consumes his every waking moment.
And at Stormcage Containment Facility, in the fifty-second century, River Song is preparing to escape for what may be the very last time... '

Well, all these eye-popping, gut-wrenching, heart-tugging, teeth-clenching teasers have hopefully got you in thr mood for Episode 777 tomorrow but to ensure you don't stay awake all night, humming with excitement, here's a nice puzzle to ensure you get some sleep tonight. Enjoy!
And remember, His Darkest Hour has come, the Battle of Demons Run is about to commence and a good man, the best man you've ever known, may just die. Please, be there for him.

Of course, newly-mummed Ms Pond will presumably be at the heart of this story and so will her baby daughter who, it has been revealed, is named Melody. Whether she's a Willliams or a Pond has yet to be discovered.

Spoilers!
A breif synopsis of the Doctor Who mid-season cliffhanger, A Good Man goes to War, has been released. It was so great I'd thought I'd post it.

Exciting stuff, eh? Only 3 weeks to go - but then that means no Who for 3 months. Sob, we can't win.
Rory (in his Roman costume, Arthur Darvill-fans) faces the Cyberlord and his Cybermen
--------------------------------------------------------Amy Pond has been kidnapped and the Doctor is raising an army to rescue her as the drama continues. But as he and Rory race across galaxies, calling in long-held debts and solemnly given promises, his enemies are laying a carefully concealed trap.
In her cell in Stormcage, River Song sadly acknowledges that the time has come at last – today will mark the Battle of Demons Run and the Doctor's darkest hour. Both sides will make their sacrifices and River Song must finally reveal her most closely guarded secret to the Doctor.

As the new Doctor Who series is well underway I think it's time to celebrate that with the top 5 moments of Doctor Who Series Six so far...
5. The Eleventh Doctor in the 'Coral' TARDIS.
This scene deserves its place for pleasing the fanboy/girl in everyone (well, me anyway). It's Eleven! In Nine and Ten's TARDIS! Did I wish really hard?

Amy Pond to the rescue! When the Doctor and Rory are being made to walk the plank by Captain Avery and his blagard crew, Amy dons a pirate hat, coat and cutlass and saves them from certain death! Go Pond!

For sheer shock value, this scene must make my top five. The mysterious little girl who the Silence had hidden away in a Apollo 11 spacesuit (for reasons best known to the themselves) staggers into a New York alleyway. She's dying but, apparently, it's alright. She can fix it...(cue volcanic whoosh)
2. I'm Sexy!
The Doctor's Wife
She's the TARDIS. And she's a woman! The Doctor and his constant companion through time and space finally get to talk - and they argue!
While building a TARDIS out of junk parts to rescue Amy and Rory from House, the Doctor accuses the TARDIS of never being very reliable. The cheek!

The Impossible Astronaut
Amy, Rory and River all receive a summons to Utah in the good ol' US of A in 2011. There they meet the Doctor - in a Stetson - and have a picnic alongside the beautiful Lake Silencio. However, this picturesque scene is interrupted when an astronaut emerges from the lake. The Doctor, seemingly expecting such a confrontation, warns his friends not to interfere as he walks over to the figure.

of green light blast the Doctor. Teary-eyed, he starts to regenerate but another blast of light stops the process and he falls to the ground. A dead man.
A phenomally shocking scene of the highest WTF variety, this forces the viewer to sit up and pay attention only 10 minutes into the new series. Perhaps, Doctor Who will never be safe again.

Being Human is Brilliant!
No, this isn't going to be an oddly reflective piece on the highlights of humanity - sorry, philosophy students- but a post on BBC3's excellent drama Being Human.
The series follows the lives of a Vampire, a Werewolf and a Ghost who share a house. Unfortunately, this sounds like the set-up to a bad joke which does the series a serious injustice. It's really about the main character's dogged attempts to work themselves back into ordinary society and lead normal lives. Sometimes this leads to humourous escapades but more often then not, to a heartbreak for one of our terrific trio.
Talking of terrific trios - the strength of the cast is one of the show's great assets. Let's take a look shall we?
Lenora Crichlow is Annie, the sweet young girl who fell down the stairs of her house and has since haunted the place due to 'unfinished business'.
She is seen by no-one until fellow supernaturals George and Mitchell come to live in her house.
One of Annie's most endearing aspects is here insistence on making her friends endless amounts of tea- even though she cannot drink them herself.
Talking of terrific trios - the strength of the cast is one of the show's great assets. Let's take a look shall we?

Aidan Turner is tortured vampire Mitchell. Over a hundred years old, Mitchell has slaughtered millions due to his 'addiction' to blood. However, he is determined to go cold Turkey and give up his blood-sucking ways. Although, this is easier said then done.
Poor Mitchell always seems to have the worst luck of all our heroes. Be it given life-changing prophecies, made a reluctant 'king of the vampires' or - oh, yes- an endless addiction to human blood - it's certainly not a lark being Mitchell.
And, last but certainly not least, is Russel Tovey who plays the geeky but loveable George who was attacked by a werewolf on holiday in Scotland and now transforms into a werewolf every full-moon.
George first met Mitchell when the valiant vampire saved him from a group of viscious fellow blood-suckers. They soon became the best of friends and soon moved into a certain haunted house in Bristol...
But its not only the acting which is tremendous about this show. The writing is excellent; each episode and the overall story arc equally engaging. It also helps that each series (of which there have now been three) have had a different story to tell.
Series 1 as well as introducing the characters deals with the mystery of Annie's death and, more prominently, the sadistic Vampire boss Herrick's attempt at world domination.
Series 2 sees the thret come from humanity itself when the gang is tracked down by the shady Professor Jagget's organisation which claims to be able to cure supernaturals...
Again, this sounds like silly stuff but its all done with the right balance of comedy and drama so you really care for the characters when their world is repeatedly put at risk.
And Mitchell, George and Annie's world is never more threatened than in the recent series 3. Dealing with the forces of a resurrected Herrick, the Police and that of Hell itself, surely not all of our heroes can survive to fight another day...
